Amicalola Falls

It's easy to see why this is one of Georgia's most popular state parks. Amicalola, a Cherokee Native American word which means "tumbling waters," is an appropriate name for these 729-foot falls. They are the tallest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River.

Unicoi State Park

The cabins are located only one mile from Unicoi State Park's pristine beauty. Nestled in the north Georgia mountains just two miles from the Alpine village of Helen, Unicoi is one of Georgia's most beloved state parks. Throughout the year, the park offers outstanding programs which focus on natural, cultural, historical and recreational resources. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy hiking and biking on scenic mountain trails, especially those leading to Helen and Anna Ruby Falls. Numerous picnic tables are located throughout the park.

Anna Ruby Falls

Enjoy an easy walk on the half-mile, paved trail to Anna Ruby Falls. The walk itself to the falls is a gentle climb beside the rushing waters of the creek. The valley is cool and fresh, and there are plenty of places to rest along the way. Plan about an hour and and half for the round trip, longer if you wish to linger by the falls!

Tallulah Falls

Home of Tallulah Gorge, an ancient, awesome 1000 foot chasm carved over millions of years by the Tallulah River, Tallulah Falls is actually a series of six waterfalls cascading down through Tallulah Gorge. There are 3 lakes, hiking trails, waterfalls, and a 1000-ft Gorge all within the Town of Tallulah Falls!

Lake Rabun

Lake Rabun is an 834-acre lake located a few miles downstream of Lake Burton near Clayton.  This mountain reservoir is long and narrow with miles of steep, rocky shoreline. The upper two miles of the lake are relatively shallow and contain mud flats with weed beds along the river channel and long sections of blown down trees. Spotted bass, largemouth bass, bluegill and shellcrackers are favorite targets of local anglers.

Lake Burton

Lake Burton was one of the first lakes in the United States created specifically for power generation. With the completion of the dam at the east end of the lake in 1913, more than 2700 acres of lake were created. In the rugged north Georgia mountains of Rabun and Burton Counties, Lake Burton has coves galore. Each is more breathtaking than the last, with peaks jutting high above the water. The Tallulah River was dammed and the town of Burton flooded when the lake was completed. Today the lake serves as a reservoir, controlling the flow of water to Seed Lake below it.
